The AMA Physician Masterfile includes current and historical data on all physicians, both AMA members and nonmembers. This includes students and graduates of foreign medical schools who reside in the United States and who have met the educational and credentialing requirements necessary for recognition as physicians.
Each AMA Physician Masterfile record includes the physician's name, medical school and year of graduation, gender, birthplace, and birthdate. Additional data (residency training, state licensure, board certification, geographical location and address, type of practice, present employment and practice specialty) are added from primary data sources or from surveying the physicians directly as the physicians' training and career develop.
Also available is vital information including hospital and group practice affiliations among physicians.

Advanced Practice Nurses (CNM, CRNA and CNS)
Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM) are healthcare professionals who have an average of one and a half years of specialized education beyond nursing school. CNM's provide well-women gynecological and low-risk obstetrical care including primary care, prenatal, labor, delivery, assistance with family planning decisions, menopausal management and intrapartum/postpartum care while prescribing in 48 states and the District of Columbia.
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) are Registered Nurses with 2-3 years of education beyond a bachelor's degree, in addition to meeting national certification and re-certification requirements. CRNA's frequently work independently in nearly all settings in which anesthesia are given; operating rooms, obstetric delivery rooms, dentist's offices and ambulatory surgical settings.
A Certified Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a Registered Nurse with an advanced nursing degree who provides primary care, mental health and psychotherapy. CNS's determine health assessments, make diagnosis and administer treatment. In addition to direct patient care, CNS's work in consultation, research, education and administration.
